Blue Light District
I'm am sitting at a laptop computer in a gutted KMart, surrounded by more computers, people, and about 575 burlap cots. It is an interesting conglomerate of people here....I have met people from all over- Alaska, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Canada....
I have spent the past two days doing data entry and paperwork. Tomorrow, I switch over to emergency response units for deployment- my stupid wrist and my wanting to actually "work with people" takes over from depolying earlier out to the field to do paperwork.
Needless to say, Rita is making things a tad more complicated and a lot more interesting.
Though there are no showers to speak of, the local shops are being fairly accommodating, even if we are in the sketchiest of bfe areas. Meals are good, though somewhat lacking in the vegetable area..and good lord, there are enough processed foods here to understand why America is like the fat capital of the world.
And Alabama is...Alabama. Imagine....Imagine the worst block or two or Charlotte, stretch it over about 5 miles to correct it to scale, and add a prostitute every quarter mile. I mean, I like prostitutes and all, but...I just doing know how well your going to do trying to pick up people outside of an ARC headquarters.
Amy- Save those Lost and Alias updates! I'll admit my shallow interests, even here. We have one big screen TV and Dish, but all that's been on for the past three days is CNN or FoxNews. Which I get....but, dude, some mindless sitcoms or something would be nice. But I guess getting 350 people to decide what to watch on TV is about as complicated as getting people aid when they can't prove where they live.
